This is a handy reference on the Maker Movement's favorite gadgets: the Arduino Uno and the Raspberry Pi. It is full of notes on C/C++ and Python programming syntax as well as Linux command-line operations and some example code to pull it all together. I composed this as a convenience to myself to keep the information I need all of the time at hand.
It has been 8 years since the 3rd edition of this book; 12 since the first printing. So much has changed; a hundred lesser microcontrollers have fallen by the wayside; Python 3 has finally beat out 2.7, the Raspberry Pi Foundation has created their own Pi Pico microcontroller. MicroPython dominates hobbyist coding. While Arduino C/C++ IDE and code is still used, the basic Uno has been eclipsed by ever higher performance hardware, which the Pico, and the ESP32 variants are supplying.
My aim is to help makers get started, and to save people with finite memories time looking up basic commands and syntax by printing it here. Have fun!
